There is a lot more to owning a large breed dog than most people consider.  Owning a dog takes a serious commitment of you time, effort, education and money.  Dogs, like children, need to be considered a life long commitment.  They need love, attention, rules, boundaries, positive training techniques, training, food, medical care an miscellaneous items during their lifetime. 

Before you commit yourself to the responsibility of a pet, please take into consideration the long term costs of owning a large dog.  German Shepherds can live to 12-15 Years and represent a serious financial, emotional and time commitment.

The above costs are based on current prices in Alberta, Canada.  These costs do not cover damage your dog may do to your possessions or property or to a neighbours possessions or property.  Also not listed above is doggy daycare boarding  expenses, should you need to place your dog in daycare while away on holidays which average cost today is $35 -50.00 per day/night and can cost more.
